A manga with a strong set of characters (The shinigami were my favorite characters personally, as they ironically felt the most human and complicated with human emotion and reaction). But, the anime is bland and feels like a moving manga. It is funny that such a visually boring show was able to achieve such popularity, but with the basic concept of the show being so thrilling, I do understand how it happened. |

The pure charm and appeal of the main robotic companion Canti, as well as the strong performance of Haruko's actress (I know her well from Brigadoon and Kill La Kill), make this a series that is enjoyable to watch on a moment to moment basis. However I feel that the series is hard to relate to for viewers who had a non heteronormative coming of age. In simple terms, this is teeth grindingly straight, and I think it would be better if it was gay. The constant suggestion that a man and a woman are going to fall in love, is not relatable to me as a LGBT person, and that makes this very unrelatable. |

A hilarious and well made anime by Studio Comet, the same studio that created the Onegai My Melody anime. If you are a fan of these classic 2000s anime based on Sanrio mascots, you owe it to yourself to watch Jewelpet Sunshine. This show is absolutely hilarious, and it is the only Jewelpet saga where you actually get to see the Jewelpet and human companions grow up and graduate high school (None of the other seasons actually let you fully see the characters grow up and graduate, except Sunshine). A genuinely delightful kids show. |
